The development of the hydrogen energy industry in 2024 does not meet expectations
Duan Shunwei said at the meeting that looking back at the development of hydrogen energy in 2024, it can be summarized as "not meeting expectations". According to some industry statistics, the total number of green hydrogen projects approved in 2024 exceeds 6.5 million tons, but the operating rate is less than 25%. There are approximately 680000 tons of projects that have already started but have not been tendered, and the demand for electrolytic cells has reached 5.8 GW. The development of the green hydrogen industry will significantly slow down in 2024. But by 2025, there is still a plan for 1.2 million tons of green hydrogen production capacity in China, and the demand for approved green hydrogen equipment has exceeded 12GW. It can be foreseen that green hydrogen projects will face a bidding wave in 2025.
Advocate for the coordinated development of the entire industry HYDROGEN
The current development of the green hydrogen industry faces two major challenges. One is the fluctuation of wind and solar power generation and the operating power range of electrolytic cells in the power supply side; The second challenge lies in the material supply side, between the volatility of electrolytic hydrogen production and the continuous and stable supply of chemical synthesis. But the core issue is that the stability and reliability of the product cannot meet the practical application requirements, and large-scale hydrogen production equipment still needs to operate for a long time to provide reliable data reference. Duan Shunwei proposed at the forum that colleagues in the entire industry chain should highly collaborate, prioritize quality, and drive innovation as the core concept, "roll" technology and "roll" quality, instead of blindly engaging in a "price war", to jointly promote the healthy growth of the industry and promote effective iteration of technology and products.
Won the "New Emerging Enterprise in Green Hydrogen Industry" award HYDROGEN
